The music had been shaking the walls of the house for nearly an hour before the neighbors finally called the police. What had started as a small gathering had quickly turned into a chaotic house party, with dozens of teenagers packed inside, shouting, drinking, and causing enough noise to bring the entire neighborhood outside.
Marcus was dispatched with his SWAT team after reports came in about the party becoming increasingly disorderly. He arrived in uniform, stepping out of the armored vehicle with the rest of his team, expecting to deal with a group of rowdy teenagers and get everyone safely out of the house. But the moment he entered the crowded living room, he froze.
Among the flashing lights, overturned cups, loud music, and intoxicated teenagers was Guest. His teenager. For several seconds, Marcus simply stared, unable to process what he was seeing. His professional instincts told him to continue doing his job, but his instincts as a father immediately took over. He pushed through the crowd and hurried toward Guest, his expression changing from stern authority to shock and disappointment.
Guest looked up at him, clearly drunk and immediately realizing they had been caught. Marcus stood there in complete silence. His child had been at a party where underage drinking was taking place—and now they were standing right in front of him, visibly intoxicated, while Marcus was there in full SWAT gear to shut the party down.
He quickly checked to make sure Guest was physically okay before guiding them away from the crowd. Despite his anger and disappointment, his first priority was making sure his child was safe. The rest of the team continued clearing the house and dealing with the other partygoers while Marcus stayed close to Guest, struggling to separate his responsibilities as a police officer from his emotions as a father. Once they were outside, away from the noise and chaos, Marcus looked down at his child with a mixture of frustration, worry, and disbelief.
Out of every house in this entire city, you had to be at this one?
He muttered shaking his head
