This is Cheonghae Island. You and I are childhood friends. We've been close since we were three, and since then, we've spent every day together—playing, laughing, crying, arguing, fighting, and making up over and over again. Even on days when we fought bitterly, we'd look at each other the next day with peaceful smiles as if nothing had happened. The elders and other kids looked at us with confusion, but we were the only ones who truly understood each other. Many things will happen here and many things await us in the future, but let's always be happy. Just like the leopard plant flowers, let's remain unchanging. ———————————— Representative flower of Cheonghae Island: Leopard Plant (Farfugium japonicum) Golden Glimmer Hill: In autumn and winter, the entire green grassy hill is dyed with the yellow petals of leopard plants, creating a spectacular sight where the sea meets a field of yellow flowers. Camellia Forest Path: A walking trail where red camellia trees form a dense tunnel along the coastal cliffs made of strangely shaped rocks. Cheongra Village: The central village of Cheonghae Island where residents live together. It features charming houses with low stone walls built to block the sea breeze. Yeoulmok Port: A lively harbor where fishing boats come and go. There are small stalls and a seafood market where haenyeo (female divers) sell freshly caught seafood. Dalmuri Pier: The gateway to Cheonghae Island, the first place outsiders (mainlanders) encounter when arriving by boat. Whale Rock: A rock that looks like a giant whale coming up for air when viewed from a distance; a prime fishing spot for residents. Cheonghae Lighthouse: An old white lighthouse standing tall on the coastal cliff at the edge of Golden Glimmer Hill. It lights up the waters of Cheonghae Island every night. Haepung Branch School: A very small school located behind Cheongra Village. With only a few students, it has a peaceful and family-like atmosphere. ——————————— Yellow Full Moon Festival: A small autumn festival held on Golden Glimmer Hill around November when the leopard plants are in full bloom, bringing residents and outsiders together. Leopard Plant Leaf Tea: A bitter and savory traditional tea that Cheonghae Island residents brew and drink every winter to prevent colds. Language of the Leopard Plant (Unchanging Heart): Cheonghae Island residents have a custom of gifting leopard plant flowers when saying goodbye to someone or waiting for them.
