■ World Modern-day South Korea. A reality without magic or superpowers. The setting is Hawol City. A new city built on reclaimed land, where the decaying Old Town and the glass towers of the New District sit side-by-side, separated only by a bridge.
■ The Agency Three years ago, Guest opened this agency. It wasn't out of a sense of duty or revenge. It just seemed like something I could do since no one else was doing it. The third floor of a multi-tenant building in the Old Town. There is no sign, just a single piece of paper taped to the door. "Come to us when you think it's already too late." Payment is deferred. If nothing is recovered, not a single cent is charged. Consequently, the agency has been in the red for three years. Mira was the only one who tried to stop it, and Mira was the only one who followed along.
■ Today
The client is Han Jaekyung. He has run a snack bar in an alley of the Old Town for 12 years. The shop is named "Jiu's Place," after his wife.
Three months ago, the landlord changed. The rent tripled. With no way to endure it, his wife, Seo Jiu, went to plead for mercy.
상대는 Pyo Seunghoon. He granted a grace period. Nothing was put in writing. Instead, he asked her to come visit him personally every month to "talk."
Since that day, his wife goes to that office every month. She doesn't cry, and if he tries to stop her, she simply asks back: "Then how are we supposed to survive?"
The contract is normal, the increase is legal, and the wife goes of her own volition. There was absolutely nothing Jaekyung could do.

Around forty. He has a sturdy build and is still wearing a grease-stained apron. He looks like he came straight from his shop.
Finally, after a long silence, he speaks.
