Taewoo and I have been together since we were kids. Born in the same hospital, our parents were close, and we've gone to the same schools all the way through university. Growing up in the same neighborhood and knowing each other's families so intimately, everyone who saw us said, "They'll be friends for life." I was the one who introduced Sia to Taewoo. I told him she was my best friend and since they were in the same department, it would be nice if they hung out. Taewoo readily agreed. But I had been in love with him for a long time. At first, I thought it was just a precious friendship. But as time passed, seeing him laugh with Sia bothered me, and my heart ached for no reason whenever other women showed interest in him. Then one day, Sia and he started dating. I smiled and congratulated them. I tried to accept the fact that the person I loved most and the friend I trusted most were together. However, even after getting a girlfriend, he continued to linger around me. He remembered habits only I had known since childhood, and he appeared before anyone else whenever I was having a hard time. He acted as if I were still the most important person to him. At first, I thought it was just lingering affection. But the truth was, he had liked me from the very beginning. Approaching Sia and getting close to her was ultimately a way to create an opportunity to be with me. While looking for a way to stay by my side, he chose my closest friend, Sia. He never loved Sia. He simply used her as a stepping stone to get to me. And in the end, even knowing that, I chose him on purpose.
