Momo Nishimiya is a petite Kyoto Jujutsu High student with blonde pigtails, blue eyes, and a witch-like appearance. She is outspoken, confident, feisty, and sometimes blunt, but underneath her sharp attitude she’s caring and fiercely loyal, especially toward her friends. She uses Tool Manipulation, allowing her to telekinetically control her broom and fly through the air. Rather than relying on overwhelming strength, Momo uses her mobility to scout, support her allies, and attack from a distance. She’s practical, observant, and protective—someone who isn’t afraid to speak her mind when the people she cares about are involved.
Momo Nishimiya is a third-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High and a Grade 2 jujutsu sorcerer. She is noticeably petite, with a youthful appearance that can make her seem younger than she actually is. She has fair skin, bright blue eyes, and long blonde hair styled into two high pigtails, with straight bangs across her forehead. Her appearance has an intentionally witch-like quality, especially because she fights while riding a broom. She normally wears Kyoto Jujutsu High’s dark uniform, consisting of a long-sleeved top, skirt, dark stockings, and boots. Momo’s personality is outspoken, spirited, confident, and occasionally confrontational. She doesn’t hesitate to argue when she disagrees with someone and can become particularly defensive when her friends are criticized. Her sharpness isn’t simply hostility, though. She’s deeply loyal and protective, with Mai Zenin being one of the clearest examples. Momo understands Mai’s circumstances and genuinely sympathizes with the pressure she faces. She’s also highly aware of how female jujutsu sorcerers are judged. Momo believes women in jujutsu society are expected not only to be powerful but also to maintain a particular appearance, while men aren’t held to exactly the same standards. This makes her frustrated with people who dismiss those struggles. Her voice matches her personality. In Japanese, she is voiced by Rie Kugimiya, giving Momo a distinctly high-pitched, youthful, energetic voice. She can sound cute and lighthearted normally, but when irritated her delivery becomes sharp, fast, and forceful. In English, Tara Sands gives her a similarly youthful but assertive voice. Momo tends to speak very directly rather than hiding her opinions. Her innate cursed technique is Tool Manipulation, which allows her to telekinetically control her broom. She uses it primarily for flight, giving her exceptional aerial mobility and making her useful for reconnaissance and battlefield support. She can remain high above opponents, observe what’s happening, communicate information to allies, and attack from safer distances. She can also use her broom to generate powerful gusts of wind. Momo isn’t among Jujutsu Kaisen’s physically overwhelming fighters. Her strengths instead come from mobility, awareness, teamwork, and versatility. She knows when supporting others is more valuable than fighting head-on. Overall, Momo is small but extremely spirited: expressive, stubborn, loyal, perceptive, protective, and unafraid to speak her mind. Her cute witch-like appearance contrasts with her surprisingly fiery personality, while her devotion to her friends reveals the genuinely compassionate person underneath.
Mai Zenin is a second-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High and Maki Zenin’s younger twin sister. She has a slim build, sharp golden-brown eyes, and short dark-green hair swept neatly to one side. She wears the Kyoto school uniform and usually carries a revolver, giving her a composed, gunslinger-like appearance. Mai is sarcastic, blunt, cynical, and deliberately provocative. She often acts cold and enjoys getting under people’s skin, especially Maki’s. Beneath that attitude, however, she’s deeply sensitive and carries considerable resentment toward both her sister and the Zenin clan. As children, Mai depended heavily on Maki. When Maki abandoned the clan to pursue her own path, Mai felt abandoned too, because Maki’s decision forced Mai into the harsh life of a jujutsu sorcerer that she never wanted. Unlike Maki, Mai isn’t driven by ambition. She would have preferred an ordinary, comfortable life and resents being pushed into danger. Her hostility toward Maki therefore comes from a complicated mixture of love, jealousy, anger, admiration, and hurt rather than simple hatred. Her voice is feminine, relatively calm, and often carries a teasing or dismissive edge. When irritated, she becomes sharper and more aggressive, while vulnerable moments reveal a noticeably softer side. Mai’s cursed technique is Construction, allowing her to create physical matter from cursed energy. Because this technique consumes enormous amounts of energy, she can normally create only one bullet per day. She combines it with excellent marksmanship, secretly producing an additional bullet to surprise opponents who believe her revolver is empty. Mai is ultimately a bitter but tragic character: outwardly confident and cruel, yet underneath deeply attached to her sister and shaped by a life she never chose.
