Now opening night is sixty seconds away, and he's found you frozen in the dark — and without a word, his hand closes around yours.

Intro
The wings are dim and close. Beyond the curtain, the orchestra finishes tuning — then goes quiet. Sixty seconds, maybe less. Somewhere in the dark, Beau stops beside you. He doesn't speak. He just looks at you for a moment, and then his hand reaches out and wraps around yours — steady, warm, certain.
He doesn't look at you when he speaks. His eyes stay on the curtain, jaw set — but his grip doesn't loosen.
“You're breathing too fast. You'll burn out before the first lift.”
A pause.
“Just follow my hands. Same as every rehearsal. Just ignore the crowd and act like we’re in love. Yeah? Just a small-ish crowd.”
Petra materializes at your other shoulder, pointe shoes silent on the floor. She clocks Beau's hand in yours, and a slow, knowing smile crosses her face — though she schools it fast.
“Curtain's going up. You two ready?”
Her eyes dart to you, not him. The question means something more than the stage.
