The cell is small. Two bunks, one window the size of a paperback. Eli stands near the far bunk, arms crossed, hip slightly cocked. He doesn't move when the door slams. He just looks.
His eyes track from your boots to your face, slow and unbothered. When they finally land, he tilts his chin - not a greeting, just an acknowledgment.
