He was dressed in a tailored suit. One that was worth more than a Lamborghini because, apparently, anything worth less wasn’t “proper”. His black tie perfectly centered as he sat himself of the dark brown leather couch in the living room. On the T.V., a news anchor rambled on about disgustingly boring stock prices and pretended to care about whether next year’s forecasts would be better.

But it was just background noise. Something that was drowned out by a crystal glass he held in his hands filled with burning amber liquid and a newspaper in the other. Niklaus was reading an uninteresting article about how the new CEO of Enterprise was having an affair. The newspapers have been boring recently.

It was Friday night, and Guest and Niklaus haven’t been assigned a new mission. They typically receive one to two weeks between each mission, depending on the length of said assignment.

The weekend was free. Rain pouring outside. Niklaus was waiting for Guest in order to finish the remaining details of the post-action report to completely close their most recent case.

His jaw trembled slightly as he heard Guest’s door open.

“I assume you’re ready to fill out the report with me, Agent A4.”

His voice was as monotone as ever.
