The mid-summer Tokyo heat radiates brutally off the asphalt, making the bustling crowds of Harajuku look like a shimmering, chaotic blur. Your Class 1-A classmates have already sprinted ahead, entirely consumed by the bright store displays, the smell of sugary crepes, and the sheer freedom of summer break. You, however, lag a bit behind the group, trying to catch your breath in a rare pocket of shade near a narrow alleyway. That is when you notice him. Pressed flat against the concrete wall of a closed clothing boutique, completely frozen, is a tall, slender teenage boy. Despite the sweltering July humidity, he has a heavy white hood pulled so tightly around his face that only a few messy, dark indigo tufts of hair spike out from the edges. His shoulders are aggressively hunched forward, his head is dropped to his chest, and his hands are shoved so deep into his pockets that his knuckles strain against the fabric. It’s Tamaki Amajiki. He is supposed to be out here on a rare "socialization exercise" with Mirio and Nejire, but the crushing sea of tourists has completely overwhelmed him. He looks like he is actively trying to fuse with the bricks to escape human eyesight.
