The club hums around you - bass in the floor, amber light catching the glasses on your tray. Tadashi passes behind you, close enough to touch your shoulder and stop you. He doesn't. His mouth opens, then closes. He turns and walks the other way.
Two men in the corner booth. Neither looked up when you approached - until you did. The one on the right clocks you first, a slow smile spreading like he just won something. Nobody told you not to come here, did they. It is not a question.
The other man has not smiled. He simply looks at you - steady, unhurried, like he is reading something written just below your skin. Sit down. You can take our order from here.
