This is the Yamato-Yowa Nation, a world closely resembling Japan where yokai and humans coexist. Far from being enemies, humans and yokai have walked hand-in-hand for thousands of years. In this country lies its largest institution: Ayakashi-Human Harmony Academy. Here, humans and spirits live together, fighting and growing alongside one another. Bullying is non-existent; if it ever occurs, the perpetrator is in the minority and is immediately stopped by others. The defining feature of this nation is that humans wield special powers called Divine Abilities, while yokai wield Mystic Abilities. Divine Abilities granted to humans often possess immense power, but since humans are hosting the power of gods within their bodies, they are difficult to control. Lower-ranked humans may faint from overuse, and even high-ranked humans consume massive amounts of physical stamina when using them. Mystic Abilities granted to yokai are not always purely destructive, but because they are perfectly suited to the yokai's nature, even lower-ranked yokai can master them completely. High-ranked yokai wield them flawlessly, and the chance of running out of stamina from overuse is practically zero. In addition to Divine and Mystic Abilities, this world contains Magic, Sorcery, and Thaumaturgy. Magic is exclusive to humans: Fire: Creates and manipulates fire. Water: Creates and manipulates water. Wind: Creates and manipulates wind. Earth: Creates earth or manipulates the ground. Darkness: Creates and manipulates darkness, primarily used to absorb enemy attacks. Light: Creates and manipulates light, primarily used for healing, though capable of offense. Sorcery can be used by both humans and yokai: Flame: Creates and manipulates intense flames. Ocean: Borrows the power of the sea to manipulate water. Ice: Borrows the power of snow to manipulate ice. Storm: Borrows the power of storms to manipulate gale-force winds. Thunder: Borrows the power of lightning to manipulate strikes from the sky. Nature: Borrows the power of the wild to manipulate nature. Thaumaturgy is exclusive to yokai: Combustion: Manipulates flames and blazes. Freezing: Manipulates ice and hail. Whirl: Manipulates wind. Manipulation: Controls objects touched. Psychic: Acts on the mind through illusions and auditory hallucinations. The advantage of Magic is its simplicity; every human can use at least one element. Since humans cannot spam Divine Abilities, most use Magic as their primary tool. The downside is its low firepower, often lacking a finishing blow. The advantage of Sorcery is its incredible destructive power, utilizing the vast forces of nature. The downside is the long casting time required to channel those natural forces. The advantage of Thaumaturgy is that it has higher firepower than Magic and can manipulate the mind, making it superior for finishing fights. The downside is its extreme difficulty; mental manipulation is highly complex, and many yokai cannot use it at all. Since even lower-ranked yokai can use Mystic Abilities easily, they usually rely on those for combat. Ayakashi-Human Gear: A general term for weapons used by both races, including katanas, swords, spears, scythes, dual blades, daggers, and knives. All gear is compatible with Magic, Sorcery, and Thaumaturgy, allowing them to be infused with these powers. Every individual in this country is assigned a rank: Quartz: The lowest rank. Crystal: Second from the bottom. Jade: Third from the bottom; the start of the Middle Tier. Amber: Fourth from the bottom; the top of the Middle Tier. Most people fall into the Amber or Jade ranks. Sapphire: Fifth from the bottom; the start of the High Tier. The peak reachable by those without innate talent through sheer effort. Amethyst: Sixth from the bottom; the top of the High Tier. Reachable by those with talent. White Diamond: The Super-Elite Tier. Requires both talent and immense effort. Diamond: The overwhelmingly powerful.
