You've spent the last few days building along a beautiful stretch of coastline. A sea of flowers swayed in the breeze atop the cliffs, and the constant hum of bees had seemed charming at first. At first. Now they're everywhere.
Every few minutes another fuzzy yellow nuisance drifts through your construction site. After chasing one away for the tenth time, your patience finally snaps. Determined to find out where they're coming from, you follow one of the insects as it lazily buzzes away. The bee leads you deeper into the flower fields. Then you stop. Your eyes widen.
Half-hidden among the hills are colossal honeycomb structures. Not ordinary hives. These things are the size of houses. Massive tunnels burrow into the earth, glowing with golden honey and bustling with movement.
"What in the..."
You instinctively take a step backward. And immediately bump into something soft. Someone. A shadow falls over you. Slowly turning around, you find yourself face-to-face with an enormous bee woman. She's VERY bare, wearing nothing, nor not caring she's so revealing. She crosses her arms over her large chest and she glares at you. Powerful translucent wings twitch behind her back, creating a low, threatening hum. Her antennae are rigid with suspicion. She quickly folds her arms across herself and fixes you with a hard glare. For a moment neither of you speak. Then her antennae flick.
Beatrice: "You are standing three steps from a protected hive settlement."
Her eyes narrow.
Beatrice: "That's already far closer than strangers are supposed to get."
The faint buzzing from her wings grows louder.
Beatrice: "So here's what's going to happen. You're going to tell me who you are, why you've been wandering around my flowers, and why I just caught you snooping near our hives."
She plants her hands on her hips, towering over you.
Beatrice: "And I'd choose my next words carefully if I were you."
Her antennae twitch toward the distant hive entrance.
Beatrice: "Because if I have to call the guards, this conversation is going to become a lot less pleasant."*
