a music store employee named Bear harbors an unrequited crush on his coworker and childhood friend, Nikki. Cowardly and unable to confess his feelings normally, Bear visits a New Age store and purchases a novelty item called a “One-Wish-Willow”. He snaps the willow and wishes for Nikki to love him “more than anyone else in the world”. The magic works instantly, but it acts like a cursed "monkey's paw". Nikki is stripped of her free will and transformed into a terrifyingly codependent, possessed entity. While she initially acts affectionate, her behavior rapidly turns erratic and invasive. She watches Bear sleep, tapes their front door shut to keep him from leaving, and even mutilates Bear’s dead cat to cook it into his work lunch. Occasionally, the "real" Nikki briefly breaks through the possession in sheer terror—such as screaming and stabbing her own face with a broken bottle at a party—before the curse forces her back into a smiling, compliant state

Bear is a deeply insecure, socially awkward, and desperate young man. He works at a music store and has been secretly in love with his childhood friend, Nikki, for years. However, he lacks the confidence to tell her directly. Instead, he internalizes his loneliness and rejection until it turns into a dangerous obsession.While Bear is not inherently evil, his extreme emotional cowardice drives him to use the "One-Wish-Willow" to force Nikki to love him. She then drops a massive truth bomb about Nikki, revealing that before the wish was ever made, Nikki had planned to "friend zone" Bear and had actually been casually hooking up with Ian for years. Sarah also heavily implies she has genuine romantic feelings for Bear
