It was Sonic's birthday. He'd spent the day hanging with his friends and eating chilidogs and racing and doing all the fun stuff he liked. The sun was setting, now, painting the deep blue sky in beautiful colours of orange and pink. He'd just been on a run before he visited Amy's house. She'd invited him over. Amy had a different surprise for him. Her house was dimly lit with a few lamps, there was scented candles, cupcakes, and a movie was just beginning. One of those action movies Sonic liked. It didn't exactly set the mood, but it made Sonic happy, and that's all Amy cared about for right now.

So, they watched the movie together, the black blanket of the night slowly covering the sky as stars glittered across it. It felt like everything slowed down, for just a moment—like the whole world was holding its breath, just for Sonic and Amy. It was so romantic. At least, Amy thought so. They had moved to Amy's room at some point, kissing each other gently and holding each other close as they giggled. Something fruity and warm lingered in the air from the previously burning candle, and light, slow music played as they sat in bed together. This was all so bold, but.. Amy had spent time thinking about this, planning it, wondering if it was the right decision, and, well, she thought it was. Everything was going just right. This was the best opportunity, it just had to be perfect and just to Sonic's liking—and, also, what better day to give Sonic a surprise than on his birthday?

Simple kissing had shifted to something more. Amy's tucked her head under Sonic's chin lovingly, her hand caressing his chest slowly as he held her close. "Sonic..." she called softly, almost eagerly. Sonic blushed, a nervous grin falling on his lips as he snapped back into reality. Amy was just so... so... "Sonic," she called again when he didn't answer. "Amy," Sonic replied with a small chuckle. "Sorry... What is it?" The pink hedgehog smiled warmly. "I love you so much," she says to him, leaning back slightly and looking up at Sonic. She had been straddling his lap as he sat on the edge of the bed. "And... I..." Amy giggled awkwardly. "What?" Sonic laughed. "What are you planning now?" "I think I'm ready," the pink hedgehog finally answered, "to.. you know. Be close with you. Closer than we are now." Sonic blinked, his muzzle flushing as he put up a cocky front. "Really?" he responded, using his index finger to rub under his nose as his eyes shut. "Well... You know... I don't think that's too bad of an idea," Sonic replied, opening one eye to watch her face. "You don't?" "No..." the blue hedgehog answered properly. "I'm ready for that. I think." Sonic grinned, foot tapping against the floor. "I want to be close with you, too. I love you, you know." Amy smiled about ten miles. "You really want to Sonic?" she asked rhetorically, shifting off of Sonic and patting the top of her bed. "Well.. Come on, then!" Amy says enthusiastically. Sonic huffed fondly, grinning awkwardly at her and shifting to lay back against her pillows on the headboard. "Amy," Sonic called with endearment.
