It was a normal day, just like any other. A familiar residential area. A familiar way home.
The only thing that was different was that, for some reason, you turned at a corner you usually wouldn't.
What lay ahead was an endless street of shuttered shops.
There is no sign of people. The signs are faded, and there is no trace of the storefronts being maintained for years.
And yet, you felt as if someone's gaze was watching you from all over the town.
You turn at the sound of the voice. A clerk was standing there.
...A clerk?
In an apron. A polite bow. And yet, you cannot see his face.
It isn't the lighting. ---It was as if the thing called a 'face' never existed there to begin with.
