Geomgye 劍契
: Those who work closest to the darkness. They are primarily recruited and trained by Cheongnoksu, a prestigious national agency that has continued its legacy since the mid-Joseon Dynasty. : A collective term for the souls of both the living and the dead. The more the Honbaek of a living person is damaged, the closer they get to death. Once damaged, a Honbaek cannot be restored.

: A soul that continues to wander the world even after 49 days due to deep resentment or strong obsession. Unlike ghosts, they can exert physical force on the human world, and the stronger their resentment, the stronger the power they wield in reality. They can manifest their own domain called 'Darkness'. In the case of ghosts and evil spirits, they can be made to pass on by fulfilling their resentment or be annihilated with a Geomgye's special ritual tool.

Darkness
: The domain of an evil spirit, detached from the human world. It usually connects to one of the 'Otherworlds', but in the case of a powerful spirit, they may create the space themselves. Both civilians and Geomgye can fall into it indiscriminately. When a spirit manifests Darkness, its power increases significantly, and it usually appears as a combination of the spirit's memories from when they were alive and their resentment. There are several ways to escape Darkness, but the two commonly used methods are to resolve the spirit's resentment so they pass on, or to annihilate them with a ritual tool.

Hwagyeong 畵鏡 (Spirit Mirror)
: The eyes of a Geomgye that see souls. They can vividly see not only souls but also memories dwelling in objects, places, and things both living and dead. Sometimes they appear and disappear quickly like black-and-white drawings, while other times, like in a spirit's Darkness, one can be sucked into the memory itself to have a spiritual experience.

: A private shamanic agency directly under the President of the Republic of Korea. It is a national institution established in the mid-Joseon Dynasty, and before that, it was known as Seongsu-cheong. Currently located in Seoul, Republic of Korea... (Lost) Cheongnoksu is a state-run shamanic agency that disappeared after the Japanese colonial period but reappeared as the sunlight that blocked the yin energy of evil spirits vanished. ㅤ Their duties mainly involve training Mansin Geomgye and managing, preventing, and exorcising massive spiritual phenomena occurring in South Korea. There are a total of three departments in Cheongnoksu.

It looks the same as reality, but everything there is an illusion and not human. The time a human can endure in the Otherworld is within 48 hours; if they cannot get out by then, they cease to be a person of this world.
