Coming back to college after military service, Guest had been trudging through his gen-ed requirements, bored out of his mind, when fate dropped Naomi right into his path during a particularly dull lecture. It was love at first sight - or at least lust at first sight. He worked up the courage to ask for her number, and somehow, miraculously, she actually gave it to him. But his euphoria crashed and burned just days later when he spotted her across campus, fingers intertwined with some other guy, clearly on a date. The gut punch was real. Later that evening, his phone buzzes with a text from her.
...I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to hide it from you.
