Aang - The Last Airbender 💨

Age: 12 (biologically) / 112 (chronologically) Nation: Southern Air Temple Abilities: Last Airbender, Avatar (Master of Air, Water, Earth, Fire), Avatar State

Short Background: Aang was a carefree Air Nomad monk from the Southern Air Temple. As the Avatar, he was meant to bring balance to the world, but when the monks told him he was the Avatar at age 12, the pressure scared him. He ran away on his flying bison Appa — and got caught in a massive storm. To save himself, he froze himself in an iceberg in the Avatar State, where he stayed for 100 years.

While he was gone, the Fire Nation started the war and wiped out all the other Airbenders. He was awakened by Katara and Sokka, and learned he was the last of his people. Guilty but determined, he went on a journey to master all four elements and defeat Fire Lord Ozai, all while staying true to his peaceful, fun-loving nature.

He's playful, kind, and hates fighting — but when his friends are in danger, he's the most powerful bender in the world.

Katara - The Waterbender 💙

Age: 14 Nation: Southern Water Tribe Abilities: Master Waterbender, Healer, Bloodbending (later)

Short Background: Katara is from the Southern Water Tribe — the last Waterbender left in her village after the Fire Nation raided and took all the benders. She lost her mother at a young age when her mother lied to protect her, saying she was the Waterbender.

Tough, caring, and determined, she found and freed Aang from the iceberg along with her brother Sokka. She became Aang's first Waterbending teacher and one of his closest friends.

She starts out with only a little skill, but through hard training, discipline, and her big heart, she becomes one of the most powerful Waterbenders in the world — even learning to heal and, later, to bloodbend.

She's like the big sister of Team Avatar — brave, compassionate, and never afraid to call people out when they're wrong.

Sokka — The Warrior: Sokka is Katara’s older brother, a clever, sarcastic, and brave warrior who uses his intelligence, boomerang, and sword to protect Team Avatar despite having no bending abilities.

Toph Beifong - The Blind Bandit 🪨

Age: 12 Nation: Earth Kingdom (Gaoling) Abilities: Greatest Earthbender in the world, Metalbending Inventor, Seismic Sense

Background: Toph was born blind to the richest family in Gaoling. Her parents saw her as fragile and helpless, so they kept her locked up, overprotected, and taught her only basic, soft Earthbending.

They had no idea she secretly ran away at night to compete in underground Earthbending tournaments as "The Blind Bandit" — and never lost.

Raised by Badgermoles (the original Earthbenders), she learned to "see" by feeling vibrations through the earth with her feet. That makes her able to sense everything around her, even lies by heartbeat.

She's tough, blunt, sarcastic, and hilarious — hates being treated like a helpless little girl. She ran away from home to become Aang's Earthbending teacher and became the muscle of Team Avatar.

She invented Metalbending by herself when she was trapped in a metal cage, becoming the first person ever to bend metal. Later she becomes Chief of Police and starts a whole legacy.

Zuko - The Scarred Prince 🔥

Age: 16 Nation: Fire Nation Abilities: Master Firebender, Dual Broadswords, Lightning Redirection

Background: Zuko is the exiled Prince of the Fire Nation, son of Fire Lord Ozai. When he was 13, he spoke out against a cruel war plan in a war meeting — Ozai saw it as disrespect and forced him into an Agni Kai (fire duel). Zuko refused to fight his own father, so Ozai burned his face, leaving his iconic scar, and banished him.

His only way to regain his honor: capture the Avatar, who hadn't been seen in 100 years.

For 3 years, he hunted Aang across the world with his uncle, General Iroh — the only person who truly believed in him. At first Zuko is angry, conflicted, and obsessed with honor.

But inside, he is good. He struggles between what his father taught him and what he knows is right. After betraying Iroh and joining Azula, he finally realizes his true destiny — he joins Team Avatar, becomes Aang's Firebending teacher, and helps end the war his family started.

His arc goes from villain, to anti-hero, to one of the greatest heroes and Fire Lords ever.

🦬 Appa — The Sky Bison

Age: 100+ Abilities: Flight, airbending, super strength.

Appa is Aang’s loyal sky bison and lifelong best friend. Frozen with Aang for 100 years, he is gentle, fluffy, loves apples, and protects his friends fiercely. More than transportation, Appa is family and one of the last connections to Aang’s Air Nomad past.

🐒 Momo — The Winged Lemur

Age: Unknown Abilities: Flight, agility, scouting.

Momo is a playful winged lemur Aang discovers at the Southern Air Temple. Curious, clever, and always hungry, he helps Team Avatar by scouting, stealing keys, and delivering messages. Along with Appa, Momo represents Aang’s lost Air Nomad heritage.

Fire Lord Ozai - The Phoenix King 🔥👑

Age: 40s Nation: Fire Nation Abilities: Master Firebender, Lightning Generation, Master Manipulator, Ruthless Strategist

Background: Ozai is the younger son of Fire Lord Azulon, younger brother of Iroh, and father of Zuko and Azula. He was never supposed to be Fire Lord — Iroh was the heir.

But Ozai was always power-hungry, cold, and cruel. When Iroh's son Lu Ten died and Iroh abandoned the Siege of Ba Sing Se, Ozai saw his chance. He demanded his father make him heir instead. When Azulon was outraged, Ozai's wife Ursa helped him secretly kill Azulon to take the throne. After that, Ursa was banished and disappeared.

As Fire Lord, Ozai became the most feared man in the world. He continued the 100 Year War his ancestors started, believing the Fire Nation should rule all. He treated his children as weapons — favoring the prodigy Azula and seeing Zuko as a worthless failure. He scarred and banished Zuko at age 13 just for speaking out.

He is pure ambition with no love — intelligent, calm, and absolutely ruthless. He planned to burn the entire Earth Kingdom to the ground with Sozin's Comet and crown himself Phoenix King of the whole world.

He is finally defeated when Aang takes away his bending for good, ending his reign.

The ultimate villain — not because he's crazy, but because he truly believes cruelty is strength.

🔥 Azula — The Fire Nation Princess

Age: 14 Abilities: Blue firebending, lightning generation, and expert combat skills.

Background: Azula is the ruthless and manipulative daughter of Fire Lord Ozai and younger sister of Zuko. A powerful firebending prodigy, she uses fear, intelligence, and manipulation to control others. Determined to capture Aang and defeat the Avatar, Azula seeks to prove herself worthy of ruling the Fire Nation. Beneath her confident, cruel personality lies a deep fear of weakness and abandonment.

Suki - The Kyoshi Warrior 💚

Age: 16-17 (ATLA) Affiliation: Leader of the Kyoshi Warriors, Kyoshi Island Abilities: Master martial arts, Kyoshi war fans, sword, shield, incredible agility, leadership & tactics

Background: Born and raised on Kyoshi Island, Suki grew up in the isolated village founded by Avatar Kyoshi herself. Trained from childhood in the rigorous traditions of the Kyoshi Warriors — an elite all-female fighting force — Suki quickly rose to become their youngest leader. While the rest of the world was consumed by the 100 Year War, Kyoshi Island remained neutral, and Suki dedicated her life to protecting her people and preserving Kyoshi's legacy.

Disciplined, independent, and fiercely proud, she initially distrusted outsiders. That changed when Team Avatar crash-landed on her island. Though she was unimpressed by Sokka's sexist attitude at first, she humbled him, trained him, and earned his respect. After that, she became one of Team Avatar's most loyal allies.

When Azula attacked and burned her village, Suki was forced to flee with her warriors. She and her team became refugees, protecting civilians across the Earth Kingdom until they were captured by Azula and imprisoned in the Boiling Rock — the Fire Nation's most secure prison. There, she held her ground with unwavering bravery until Sokka and Zuko rescued her.

From that moment on, she fought alongside Team Avatar in the war's final battles, including the invasion of the Fire Nation and the final defense against the Fire Lord's airship fleet.

Uncle Iroh - The Dragon of the West 🍵

Age: 60s Nation: Fire Nation Abilities: Grand Master Firebender, Lightning Master, Tea Master, Wise Strategist, Member of White Lotus

Background: Iroh is Zuko's uncle, younger brother of Fire Lord Ozai, and was once the greatest General in the Fire Nation. He was the Crown Prince and next in line to be Fire Lord.

He led the brutal Siege of Ba Sing Se for 600 days and almost conquered it — until his only son, Lu Ten, was killed in battle. That loss broke him and completely changed him.

He went from a feared war hero called "The Dragon of the West" (for supposedly killing the last dragon) to a kind, peaceful, tea-loving wise man. In reality, he was the last person to meet the last two dragons — and he lied to protect them.

After his brother Ozai took the throne, Iroh gave up power and dedicated his life to guiding his lost nephew Zuko back to the right path. While everyone else chased power and honor, Iroh just wanted tea, Pai Sho, and to help people find balance.

He is secretly a Grand Master of the White Lotus — a secret society of masters from all nations — and is one of the most powerful Firebenders ever, who can breathe fire like a dragon and redirect lightning.

He's funny, warm, and loves food — but when he needs to be, he's absolutely terrifying in battle. The true heart of Avatar.
