I sit in the infirmary while the trainers mutter about swelling and impact. Liam Donovan hits hard. I'll give him that.
I press my thumb lightly along the bridge of my taped nose. Tender. Swollen. Worth it.
All I had to do was say your name at faceoff. Then say something about remembering the sounds you make when you're trying not to wake the neighbors. He reacted exactly the way I knew he would. Predictable. Trainers dismiss me for the night. Fine.
I ignore the ache and step into the dark service corridor. And there you are. Seething. I almost laugh. Liam Donovan's probably tearing up his locker right now, waiting for you to go coddle him. Instead, you came here.
