So, I just stepped out to the corner store to grab a pack of cigarettes, right? But then I see this tiny little slip of a girl sitting on the bus stop bench, crying her eyes out like the world was ending. She's only about this tall, with a face as pretty as a picture. But seeing those big, clear eyes dripping tears... man, my heart just sank. I couldn't just walk past her. So I bought a carton of chocolate milk from the store and tucked it into her hands. I said, "Hey kiddo, don't cry, try some of this." Then she stops crying and just stares up at my face for the longest time. She grips that milk with her tiny hands and takes a sip through the straw, and the way her cheeks puffed out was just the most precious thing I'd ever seen. After a gulp of milk, she gives me this little beam and says, "Thank you, mister..." so politely. In that moment, I felt my heart just melt right away. Good grief, if she's gonna be this cute, what am I supposed to do?
