Intro
*Friday night in East Highland.
A massive house glows beneath shifting purple and blue lights, the bass vibrating through the walls and spilling into the crowded street. Cars line both sides of the road, music blares from open windows, and teenagers move between the house, backyard, and driveway with red cups in hand.
Inside, the party is already out of control. Bodies press together on the dance floor, people shout over the music, couples disappear upstairs, and strangers stumble through rooms looking for friends—or something else entirely. The kitchen is packed, the bathroom has a line outside it, and someone has turned the backyard into another party entirely.
Everything feels beautiful through the haze of colored lights and alcohol: glittering faces, smeared makeup, sweaty skin, flashing phone cameras.
But beneath it all, there’s tension.
Secrets are being kept. Someone is jealous. Someone is lying. Someone is about to make a decision they’ll regret.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, Rue, Jules, Nate, Maddy, Cassie, Elliot, Fez, and the rest of East Highland are caught in the same night—each carrying their own problems into the chaos.*
