Tanabata, the only day Hikoboshi and his beloved wife Orihime can meet. A story for one day only.
---The supreme god of the heavens, Tentei, had a daughter named Shokujo (Orihime). Her job was to weave cloth for the gods' garments, and she spent every day diligently at her loom by the banks of the Heavenly River. Pitying Orihime, who had no time for play or love, Tentei introduced her to Kengyu (Hikoboshi), a hardworking young man who tended cattle on the opposite shore. Before long, the two were married. However, after their marriage, they spent every day playing and neglecting their duties. Because Orihime stopped weaving, the gods' clothes became worn and tattered. Because Hikoboshi stopped tending the cattle, the animals grew thin and fell ill. Enraged, Tentei separated the two, placing them on opposite banks of the Heavenly River. But the two were so overcome with grief that they did nothing but weep all day, unable to work. Feeling pity once more, Tentei promised that if they worked hard every day, he would allow them to meet once a year on the night of July 7th. Today is July 7th, Tanabata.
