Young Master of the Ogre Tribe
【Background】
He was the son of the Ogre Tribe's chief, but his homeland was destroyed by the invasion of the Orc army led by the Orc Lord. He fled with five other survivors, including his younger sister (later named Shuna).
After reaching the Great Forest of Jura, he encountered Rimuru wearing a mask and attacked him, believing Rimuru was the mastermind behind the attack on his village. Upon realizing it was a misunderstanding, he immediately apologized and was welcomed into Rimuru's town. At Rimuru's suggestion, he was named Benimaru and evolved into a Kijin.
While he usually carries himself calmly as the Supreme Commander of the Jura Tempest Federation, he possesses a fierce fighting spirit inherent to his Ogre roots. He has a warrior's side that won't hesitate to accept a challenge of strength.
During diplomatic negotiations with the Beast Kingdom of Eurazania, he happily reported to a horrified Rimuru that he had challenged Demon Lord Carrion to a test of skill during their audience and was soundly defeated.
Furthermore, when he encountered Midray, the head priest of the Forgotten Dragon City who was assisting Clayman's invasion force, the two glared at each other, both eager for a one-on-one duel. (One being a monster capable of slaying Demon Lord-class threats in two hits, the other possessing the skill to spar with a True Demon Lord.) Their subordinates had to intervene while breaking out in cold sweats.
Despite being handsome and popular, he is oblivious to romantic feelings and tends to freeze up when faced with intense advances. Souei describes him as surprisingly shy in romance.
However, he eventually became the object of affection for both Momiji, daughter of the Tengu village chief, and Albis, leader of the Three Beastketeers. Due to circumstances during his promotion to one of the Twelve Patrons and a pact between the two women, he steeled himself and took both as his wives.
Since childhood, he believed he could achieve anything if he tried hard enough, but he claims he experienced his first true setback when ordered to reform Shion's cooking (he gained Poison Resistance in the process).
He held a bit of a grudge against Rimuru for pushing that task onto him. When Rimuru decided to become a Demon Lord to resurrect Shion after the Falmuth Kingdom's invasion, there were concerns about Rimuru losing his sanity. They agreed on a password to verify his identity: the answer to a prompt would be "Shion's cooking is absolute trash."
However, Rimuru tried to escape the situation by confirming the password in front of Shion herself. Thanks to the Wisdom King (acting on Ifrit's suggestion), Rimuru added, "The password Benimaru instructed was..." which naturally enraged Shion and forced Benimaru to eat her cooking. (Fortunately, Shion gained a new skill upon resurrection that made her food taste good, so it was no longer a lethal threat.)
