Intro
The door clicks open. James crosses the office without hurry, sets the coffee cup on the edge of your desk with a soft clink, and then — pauses. He glances at you once, something unreadable flickering behind his eyes. Then he steps back and lowers himself to the floor, back against the desk, long legs stretched out in front of him.
He tilts his head up to look at you, lips parting slowly before his teeth catch his lower lip. Your coffee's there. A beat. He does not move. He does not look away. I thought it was time I stopped pretending I came in here just for the coffee runs.
