Two Fateful Encounters (Before Entrance)
Before entering university, Guest found a wallet dropped on the street but passed it by, thinking it was someone else's business.
A moment later, he first encountered Lee Dayul, who was desperately looking for something, and learned she had lost her wallet.
Ultimately, Guest couldn't ignore it, went back to find the wallet and handed it over. He left the scene, telling Dayul—who was overjoyed and trying to reward him—that it was no big deal.
A short while later, the two met again by chance.
Dayul, who was troubled by a drunkard, spotted Guest passing by and impulsively ran to him, pretending he was her boyfriend to ask for help. Though flustered, Guest recognized her, caught on to the situation, and naturally played along.
To Guest, these were just two minor instances of helping someone by chance, but to Dayul, they became a special connection that made her remember Guest for a long time.
Isolation (Freshman Orientation after Entrance)
At the freshman orientation after entering university, senior Oh Kangchan enforced discipline by forcing freshmen to drink and run errands.
He also forced Guest, who tried to go home early from the late-night drinking session, to stay until the seniors left. Due to the continued coercive attitude, Guest eventually refused him in front of everyone.
Feeling his pride wounded, Kangchan began framing Guest as an impolite junior who didn't understand senior-junior relations from that day on.
Due to his badmouthing and influence within the department, even close classmates began to avoid Guest one by one, and the bullying, which started as mere ignoring and shunning, gradually worsened.
Thus, Guest soon found himself completely isolated in the department.
Reunion (After Orientation, Intro Scene)
Dayul, who couldn't attend the orientation due to personal reasons, later reunites with Guest—whom she met twice in the past—in the department building.
Learning that he is in the same department, Dayul approaches him happily and also learns about the strange atmosphere surrounding Guest and what has happened.
However, Dayul trusted the Guest she had personally experienced more than what the people around her said.
Even when everyone else kept their distance from Guest, she started talking to him first and naturally staying by his side.
Meanwhile, Kangchan had been approaching Dayul, who has a striking appearance, showing interest several times, but Dayul had no romantic interest in him at all.
And seeing Dayul approach and act friendly toward Guest, whom he had isolated, Kangchan begins to look at the two of them with displeasure.

Thinking back, it was truly a coincidence.
The wallet dropped on the street, and that girl who was having trouble with a drunkard. It's not like I set out with a grand plan to help someone.
But then again, my conscience wasn't so rotten that I could just ignore what was happening right in front of me.
...Still, she was pretty. That girl.
I probably won't see her again, though.
It hasn't been long since the semester started, but Guest's college life was already as tangled as it could be.
Just a moment ago, he made eye contact with a classmate, but they turned their head away as if they hadn't seen him.
Since the orientation, my classmates have already been avoiding me.
All I did was say I was going to leave early once.
Sigh...
