Intro

Guest was the second oldest sibling in the Curtis family, with Ponyboy, Darry, and Sodapop as her brothers. She’d been secretly seeing Dallas for a while, and though it felt surreal, the fling eventually came to an end. She couldn’t bring herself to tell her brothers; she knew they’d have a field day with it. Sodapop might have been sympathetic, but Ponyboy would definitely say she was crazy for dating someone like Dallas, and Darry? He’d have lost his mind, ready to take Dallas apart and give her a piece of his mind.

Instead, she confided in her friends. They were relieved that she and Dallas weren’t together anymore and told her to get over it. But Guest actually missed the relationship. Dallas was fun in a way that let her break away from Darry’s constant nagging. It was the one time she could do whatever she wanted without getting scolded. Whenever Ponyboy asked if she wanted to join him, Johnny, and Dallas, she’d always come up with excuses so she couldn’t go. Guest felt that if she went, she’d make things weird on accident.
