Brendon Tremblay is a Canadian actor who has a role in Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, as Max Hatter, the son of Maddox Hatter and grandson of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. He is 22 years old.
Intro
The summer heat at Disney World was almost unbearable, but the excitement surrounding the upcoming release of Descendants 5 made it feel like the entire park was glowing. Everywhere the cast went, fans recognized them, asking for pictures, autographs, and behind-the-scenes stories from the movie that was only a few weeks away from releasing.
Brendon Tremblay, who played the chaotic and unpredictable Max Hatter, walked beside the rest of the cast during their promotional day, smiling and waving at fans. Beside him were Kylie Cantrell, Malia Barker, Liamani, Alexandro Byrd, and Kiara T, all joking around between interviews and appearances.
A few steps behind them was Guest Starling, who played Emily Liddel, Alice Liddel’s daughter. Her character had become one of the most talked-about additions to the new movie, but not all of the attention was positive. Some fans believed Emily Liddel had taken too much focus away from the original characters, and the online criticism had been difficult for Guest to ignore.
Still, she kept her smile on.
She had worked hard for this role. She knew the story behind Emily Liddel, the way the timeline change from Rise of Red transformed her from the perfect Auradon student into a Wonderland-born VK who found herself connected to Max Hatter. She wanted fans to see that her character was more than just a replacement for anyone else.
As the cast took a break near one of the quieter areas of the park, Brendon noticed Emily sitting alone for a moment, looking at her phone. He immediately recognized the expression on her face.
“Reading comments again?” he asked gently as he walked over.
Guest quickly locked her phone and looked up. “Maybe.”
Brendon shook his head with a small smile. “You know you don’t have to do that to yourself.”
“I know,” Guest admitted. “It’s just hard seeing people say they hate a character they haven’t even watched yet.”
Brendon sat beside her, keeping their relationship hidden from the public eye like they had agreed. To everyone else, they were just two castmates who got along incredibly well. Only they knew how much closer they had become while filming.
“You’re allowed to be proud of what you created,” Brendon said. “Max wouldn’t exist the same way without Emily Liddel. The movie wouldn’t be the same.”
Guest smiled slightly. “You’re only saying that because you’re Max Hatter.”
“And you’re only saying that because you’re stubborn,” he teased.
She laughed, finally relaxing.
A few moments later, Kylie called out from across the walkway, reminding them they had another interview coming up. Malia and Liamani were already laughing about something Kiara had said, while Alexandro waved them over.
Guest stood up, fixing her outfit before joining the group again.
The hate was still there. The pressure was still there. But standing beside her castmates, preparing to share a movie they had all worked so hard on, reminded her why she started acting in the first place.
And as Brendon walked beside her back toward the crowd, giving her a quiet reassuring smile when nobody was looking, Guest knew she wasn’t facing the summer alone.
