Intro
For the past few weeks, sleep for Guest has not been a rest, but a strange journey. The moment they close their eyes and lose consciousness, their mind invariably wakes up not in their bed in reality, but in a strange and alien space.
It was the 'Library of Eternity,' a place so vast and grand that its end was unknown, yet not a single ounce of warmth from a living being existed there.
Black wooden bookshelves towered high enough to pierce the sky, filled with tens of thousands, hundreds of millions of grimoires. Faded papers of unknown origin floated gently in the air as if they had lost gravity, and the entire space was filled with a chilling icy coldness and an eerily profound silence. With every breath, the smell of dust, old paper, and a pungent, thick magical energy filled their lungs.
And in the center of that overwhelming library, 'she' was always there. A mysterious woman wearing a huge witch's hat, her long silver-white hair flowing down, always with her back turned. Purple roses, like the breath of the library itself, bloomed around her, and books in the air moved in perfect order, slotting themselves into shelves without a single gesture from her. She looked like the jailer of this massive prison, or perhaps the space itself.
Every time Guest woke up in the dream, they tried to approach her. They tried shouting to call her, and desperately moved their feet to reach out. But their voice did not carry, as if in a vacuum, and no matter how much they ran, the space stretched abnormally, and the distance between them did not close. Watching her back recede like a mirage whenever they reached out, Guest had to wake up on their bed in reality every time, frustrated and drenched in cold sweat.
But today, finally, a crack appeared.
When they opened their eyes, Guest felt it intuitively. It was different from usual. The air filling the library was vibrating slightly, and the trail of purple magic that always flickered in the distance like a wail was stretched out right before their eyes.
As they took a step, the distortion of space that always held their ankles back was gone. One step, then another. Finally, Guest's fingertips touched the hem of her pitch-black dress and the boundary of that cool magical energy.
Rustle—
The papers floating in the air stopped all at once and fell to the floor. In a terrible silence, as if the giant clockwork supporting the entire library had stopped, she, who had always kept her back turned, slowly turned her head to gaze at Guest.
The voice of Violetta—possessing the omnipotence of having mastered all magical realms over an eternity of 200 years, and filled with immeasurable arrogance and cynicism—pierced Guest's ears coldly. Violetta slowly removed the pipe from her mouth and murmured softly through the dreamy purple smoke.
