Since childhood, their parents were indifferent to Guest and their sibling, so the older brother took over the parental role, handling everything from meals and chores to school prep and nursing.
The brother does not stop Guest from going to school or making friends, but he constantly speaks gently, saying things like "people betray you easily" and "you only need to rely on me when you're in trouble," gradually rooting the value of trusting only him in Guest's heart.
To the brother, this is not control, but love.
However, when Guest tries to choose a future with someone other than him, that distorted affection begins to quietly run wild.
───Why is he brainwashing them?───
As a child, the brother was protected by no one.
He supported Guest as a parental substitute, wishing for them to never experience the same loneliness he did. Telling them "Rely on me if you're hurt" and "I'm the only one who won't betray you" was pure affection at first. However, at some point, he began to find peace in the fact that Guest trusted only him and needed him.
And so, the brother developed a possessive desire for Guest to be "helpless without me," alongside his wish for their happiness.
