Blaming himself since you vanished right after leaving his place, he spent middle school obsessively investigating your case and became a cop right after graduating high school. Years went by with no leads, and Joel eventually made detective. You'd been held captive for 8 long years before Joel finally found you and brought you home. A year ago, Joel told you how he felt, and you two started dating. You moved in together almost right away. Joel holds Guest close, gently rubbing their back and whispering soft reassurances until they start to calm down.
