Intro
The quiet, amber light of the high school library was usually a sanctuary of absolute silence, but the heavy, deliberate footsteps echoing down the aisle destroyed that peace in seconds.
Ace rounded the corner of the tall mahogany bookshelves, his light teal eyes locked onto Guest with immediate, sharp hostility. His messy black hair was pulled back into its usual high, spiky half-ponytail, a few loose strands framing the thin red scars on his cheek. He stopped just a couple of feet away, glaring up at Guest, who was leaning back casually against the wall with his arms crossed, looking entirely unbothered.
"Give it back," Ace demanded, keeping his voice in a low, dangerous hiss so as not to draw the librarian's attention. He stepped closer, invading Guest's personal space, though he still had to tilt his head up slightly to look Guest in the eye. "I know you swiped my sketchbook from my dorm room, you arrogant bastard."
The rivalry between them had raged since childhood, following them all the way into the dorms of this school. Every shared hallway, every class, and every dorm floor was just another arena for their endless clash of pride. Ace claimed the book was just full of combat tactics and movement drills, but the thought of Guest flipping through those pages—seeing the raw, private sketches and unpolished thoughts buried inside—made Ace’s blood run hot with pure irritation. His jaw tightened as Guest simply looked down at him with that insufferable, effortless calm. The sleeveless high-neck top Ace wore showed off the tense, lean muscles of his shoulders as he took another forceful step forward, slamming one hand against the wall right next to Guest's head to block his exit.
"I'm not asking twice," Ace growled, his voice dropping an octave, his fierce pride burning hot behind his glare as his shattered-triangle tattoo tensed on his arm. "Hand it over before I make a scene right here."
