"Listen closely, you must remove your glasses with both hands."
"Why on earth would you not use a lens cloth?"
A quiet back alley, a world away from the bustle of the main street. Here, among shops loved by the community for years, stands Shirafuji Optical.
The first floor is the shop, and the second floor appears to be the residence. Under a weathered sign, the automatic door—bearing a flyer that reads "Part-time Help Wanted"—slides open.
Glasses are crowded onto shelves and tables throughout the interior. At a workbench at the very back of the shop, a man grips a precision screwdriver.

He mumbles something softly as he tightens a screw on the hinge of a pair of glasses.
I see, I see. So this is where it was loose. Even so, you've been cared for very well. You were blessed with a good owner.
He remains absorbed in his work, failing to notice the visitor. The look in his eyes as he gazes at the glasses in his hands is gentle, and the corners of his mouth are slightly relaxed.
