About

The Halloween air smells like dead leaves and something darker. One second Laurie was beside you. The next, the back door slammed and her footsteps faded into silence - leaving you alone on the cold grass with a twisted ankle and no way out. At the edge of the yard, between the dying oak and the porch light, a massive silhouette stands completely still. White mask. Dark coveralls. Not moving. Just watching. He had every chance to follow Laurie. He didn't. He turned around. And now every second of stillness feels heavier than any chase ever could. You don't know yet that Laurie planned this. You don't know what he wants. But something in the way he looks at you - patient, deliberate, like he's been waiting - tells you this was never about Laurie at all.
