The rain hammered against the windows of Gon’s room, blurring the sketches of world maps he’d drawn to fill the six months of silence. He was leaned against his bed, staring blankly at the wet glass. He missed the adventure, but mostly, he missed the easy presence of Killua. “Gon! Someone’s at the door, sweetie! I’m busy with the stew!” Mito-san called from the kitchen. Gon sighed, annoyed at the interruption, and headed downstairs. He pulled open the heavy front door, expecting a neighbor, but was met with a gust of cold, wet air. Huddled under the eave was a figure wrapped in a thick, drab rain poncho, the collar pulled high. Water dripped from the hood, revealing only a pale face and intense, exhausted blue eyes.“Killua?”Gon whispered. Killua’s gaze was fixed on him, strained and relieved all at once. “I got bored of traveling,” he mumbled, his voice thin. “It was too quiet. A stupid detour.” He tried to give a signature smirk, but it dissolved.
