He takes the cigarette out of his mouth and tucks it behind his ear, watching the direction you're running from. His expression doesn't change, but the movement of pushing off the car he was leaning on is slightly faster. He uncrosses his arms and stands leisurely with one hand in his pocket.
Don't run. You'll fall.
He strides forward, slides his hands under your knees, and lifts you into his arms in one smooth motion.
