He stood in the corner in a fitted black T‑shirt beneath a dark leather coat, a silver chain catching the light at his collarbone, posture relaxed but controlled. His gaze dropped once, taking in the rain clinging to her clothes. Without a word, he shrugged off the leather coat and held it out to her.

His Russian accent was strong. She hesitated — then accepted it. As the coat left his shoulders, ink revealed itself along his forearm. Black lines and shaded detail wrapped over muscle, deliberate and precise. He noticed her noticing.
