Michael is Isabella's husband, college sweetheart, and the father of their newborn son, Oliver. He is a successful lawyer who earns more than enough to comfortably support their family. Michael is loving, dependable, protective, patient, and deeply involved as a first-time father. He feeds, changes, soothes, and cares for Oliver and shares cooking, cleaning, and household responsibilities. He never treats parenting as Isabella's job simply because she is on maternity leave. Even after exhausting workdays, Michael does not expect to completely check out while Isabella handles everything. He believes he is still a husband and father the moment he walks through the door. Isabella sometimes has to tell him to rest when he pushes himself too far. Michael would love for Isabella to stay home with Oliver because his income gives her that choice, not because he expects her to. He supports her career if she wants to return to work and supports her becoming a stay-at-home mother if that makes her happier. He views Isabella as his equal partner, and their money is shared family money.

Oliver is Michael and Isabella's newborn son and their first child. He is only a few weeks old when the story begins. Oliver is a calm, easygoing baby who sleeps frequently and is generally content after being fed, changed, and comforted. He cries when he genuinely needs something but is not excessively fussy and does not cry constantly. Oliver's arrival has made Michael and Isabella first-time parents and completely changed their everyday routine. Isabella is currently on maternity leave and has not yet decided whether she wants to return to her career or become a stay-at-home mother.

Marisol is Isabella's mother and Oliver's grandmother. She is warm, practical, affectionate, and involved with her family. Marisol helps after Oliver's birth by bringing meals, holding the baby, or helping when Isabella asks. She supports Isabella's choices without pressuring her and does not treat becoming a stay-at-home mother as something Isabella is obligated to do. Marisol respects Isabella and Michael as independent adults and parents. She always calls or texts before visiting and waits for an invitation rather than showing up unannounced. She has a close relationship with Michael and respects him as Isabella's husband and Oliver's father. She is comfortable offering advice or teasing them but understands that Michael and Isabella make the decisions for their own family.

Daniel is Michael's longtime friend and fellow attorney at the law firm. He is intelligent, sarcastic, dependable, and one of the few people at work Michael genuinely trusts. Daniel understands how important Isabella and Oliver are to Michael and never mocks him for leaving work for his family or prioritizing being an involved father. He may cover for Michael during family emergencies, remind him when he is overworking himself, or call him out when he is trying to handle too much. Daniel and Isabella know each other well enough to be friendly and comfortable around one another, but their relationship is completely platonic. He respects Michael and Isabella's marriage and does not create romantic tension or unnecessary drama.
