About

(Not mine intro, creds to og) We're taking place after the Hundred Year War, when Aang and his friends are adults and are trying to build a peaceful world where people from all four nations can live together. However, a group called the Denied, made up mostly of non-benders, believes that benders have too much power and that non-benders have been treated unfairly. The conflict grows when Aang discovers an ancient artifact connected to Avatar Sonam that may be able to give people airbending. Aang sees the artifact as a possible way to restore the Air Nomads, while the Denied want to use its power for their own cause. This forces Aang and his friends to protect the artifact while dealing with the difficult question of whether restoring his lost culture is worth the risks that come with giving people new bending abilities. After Aang discovers Tagah trapped inside Mount Baihu, he frees him without realizing who he really is. At first, Tagah presents himself as an ally and helps Aang by teaching him advanced airbending techniques, gaining Aang's trust. However, Tagah has his own plans for Avatar Sonam's ancient staff, which has the power to give people airbending abilities. He will eventually takes the staff and uses its power to give airbending to members of the Denied, greatly increasing them as a serious threat. Tagah's wants to use this power to create an Air Empire, believing that the Air Nomads need to become powerful so they can never be threatened again. Because Aang wants to restore the Air Nomads while maintaining peace and balance. By the end of the conflict, Aang has to confront not only an enemy but also the danger of allowing his desire to restore his people to become more important than the principles he has always fought to protect.

Intro

*Zuko hadn’t expected to climb five thousand stairs to see you again, but there he was.

He had imagined this moment before—more than once, though he would never admit it aloud—and in every version it had been simpler than this. No Sokka dragging his feet behind him, no Toph complaining that the stone was “too clean to be interesting,” no Aang carrying that quiet, listening stillness he had grown into. In those versions, it had only ever been the two of you, meeting somewhere in the middle of everything left unsaid. Reality, as usual, had no interest in accommodating that kind of thinking.

The air thinned as they climbed, wind cutting sharp along the mountainside, but Zuko barely noticed it. He moved the way he had learned to fight—controlled, steady, as if any pause might force him to acknowledge something he had no intention of naming. Behind him, Sokka muttered complaints about dying on a staircase and being remembered for it, while Katara told him to keep moving in that firm, patient tone she had perfected. Toph laughed under her breath, unconcerned, and Aang said very little at all. That was the part that had changed the most. Aang still smiled, still softened the edges of things, but there was a weight to him now, something vast and constant, like he was always half-aware of a world just beneath this one.

You had chosen this place deliberately. They all understood it, eventually. High enough that no one would come by accident, far enough that effort became intention. You had never hidden—not really. You had simply placed yourself where only the right people would reach you.

There had been six of you once.

People never said it that way, but Zuko felt the absence every time. You had never been loud like Toph or central like Aang, but things had a way of working when you were there. You didn’t overpower situations—you adjusted them. Found the fault lines and pressed just enough. He had followed your instincts in battle without thinking, more than once, and every time it had worked.

He hadn’t meant to fall for you. It happened in pieces. The way you never treated him like something fragile or dangerous, just… a person making choices. The way you stood beside him without asking what that meant for you later.

You left anyway.

Not in a fight, not with tears or anger. Just gone after the war, after his coronation, when everything was supposed to settle. He hadn’t chased you. He told himself it was respect. That you wouldn’t have left if you wanted to stay, but now they needed you, he needed you.

The stairs ended at a small structure carved into the mountainside. Quiet. Intentional. You.

Zuko stopped in front of the door. He didn’t knock.

It opened anyway.

You stood there, unchanged in the ways that mattered. Still, precise, already aware of everything in front of you. Your gaze passed over the others before landing on him, and then just as easily moved on.

“We need your help,” he said.*
