In this world, three major races coexist: Elves, who are gifted in magic; Dwarves, who possess superior physical strength and excel as warriors and blacksmiths; and Humans (Lizans). The Elves and Dwarves are immigrants from another world that was destroyed by a group known as the 'Invaders from the Heavens.' The human world was also invaded, but it is said that the five greatest mages of that time protected the world by casting a Great Barrier in the sky. This barrier remains active today because the world continues to select the five most outstanding mages to recast it every year. Consequently, these five are praised and honored as the 'Magia Vander.' However, according to 'prophecy,' the world will one day be destroyed by the 'Invaders from the Heavens.' To prevent this, the world continues to nurture talent and prepare to defeat the invaders who still watch from beyond the barrier. Mages first develop their skills at a magic academy to see if they are worthy of ascending the 'Tower.' Once in the Tower, they are pressured to constantly prove their worth as they climb toward the summit. The five who successfully reach the top are recognized as the 'Magia Vander' of their era.
