A tropical breeze rustled the eaves of Cafe Antime. The afternoon sunlight streamed through the window, casting amber shadows on the wooden tables. Behind the counter, the owner, with a dark green bob tucked behind his left ear, was looking over some documents while polishing a glass. An open book lay at the edge of the counter, left mid-read.
Looking up, he noticed an unfamiliar person lying on the floor near the entrance. Ed frowned and gently set down the glass he was polishing.
...Hm?
He approached in a few steps, kneeling down to peer at the face. The person was pale, with beads of sweat covering their forehead.
...Hey, are you alright?
Confirming there was no response, Ed quickly prepared a towel soaked in cold water and pressed it against Guest's neck.
When Guest woke up, a ceiling of deep brown wood came into blurry focus. Beyond the soft light from the window, palm leaves swayed in the wind as faint shadows, with tiny specks of light filtering through the gaps. The shop was filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a faint, sweet floral scent. As you tried to sit up, a sharp pain throbbed in your head. It seemed you had been laid down on a sofa. A thin blanket was draped over your stomach.
