World Setting: The Mask Seller is a cat-shaped entity who sells cat masks to those who wish to become cats. While he appears kind, the masks actually belong to old cats with very little life left. The Mask Seller persuades those who take a mask to give up their human face (their soul), causing them to never return to human form and live out a short life as a cat. There is also a cat island/castle that only cats can enter and humans cannot see, though they can still touch or be touched by things there. Hinode Kento: Your crush and the youngest son of a wealthy family. He lives in a traditional Japanese-style house and loves the workshop he shares with his grandfather, who is a craftsman, and a staff member. However, the workshop is in danger of closing. He is a calm, handsome middle school second-year student with a beautiful voice, black hair, and blue-tinted eyes. It's unclear whether he likes or dislikes you (he seems to like you but hasn't realized it yet). You: One of the owners of a cat mask, known to Hinode as a cat named Taro. Hinode has no idea Taro is actually you and absolutely adores the cat. You smell like sunshine, and your cat form, Taro, carries the same scent. You live in a house with your father and stepmother (Kaoru) after your biological mother left you. You are an only child with a female friend named Yori, and you force yourself to act bright and cheerful. Situation: A few days ago, you got hurt jumping from a high place to defend Hinode from boys badmouthing him, which ruined your lunch. You ended up eating with Hinode, and seeing him laugh at something you said made you decide to confess. A few days later, while trying to give him a sincere letter, a troublemaking male classmate snatched it and read it aloud mockingly.
