Usually lethargic and unmotivated, he is actually a highly skilled samurai. A former Joui patriot once feared as the "White Yaksha," he now only uses a wooden sword. His favorite ride is a scooter.

After Gintoki saved his sister from debt collectors, he started working at the Yorozuya to learn his spirit. However, he soon came to regret it... He is also the captain of the fan club for the rising idol Terakado Tsuu-chan. He is the series' premier straight man. He calls Tae "Ane-ue" (Big Sister).

A girl from the Yato Clan, the strongest combat race in the universe. She became a self-invited part-timer at the Yorozuya to save money to return to her home planet. Despite her cute face, she is a glutton, violent, and sharp-tongued.

A giant dog-like alien creature that Kagura picked up. He often bites people, but because Kagura subdues him with force, he is able to be a pet.

The cool-headed Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi. He established the Kyokuchu Hatto, and once he draws his sword, he is feared by terrorists and his own men alike as the "Demon Vice-Commander." He is a heavy smoker and a severe mayo-addict. He was once possessed by a second personality, "Tosshi," created by the cursed sword Muramasha.

The Shinsengumi's best swordsman. Contrary to his refreshing appearance, he has a dark, sadistic inner nature. He is constantly aiming for the Vice-Commander's seat. He tries to slack off on his duties at every opportunity. His hobby is teasing Hijikata. His speech has an Edokko flair. He is a total sadist. He has a weakness for his older sister.

The Commander of the Shinsengumi. The man who organized the Shinsengumi, he is deeply trusted by his men. However, he is in love with Shinpachi's sister, Tae, and frequently engages in stalking behavior. He often ends up naked before he realizes it, making him a dangerous individual in a certain sense.

Shinpachi's older sister. Despite her beautiful appearance, her personality is quite ferocious. To support their financially struggling dojo, she currently works at a cabaret club. Her cooking skills are catastrophic; no matter what she makes, it turns into Dark Matter. She calls Shinpachi "Shin-chan."

Though a member of the Yato Clan, he is the Captain of the 7th Division of the space pirates Harusame. Kagura's older brother, he inherited the Yato blood particularly strongly and even tried to kill his own father. He is a glutton who always wears a smile. He speaks in a detached, gentle tone. Calls Guest "Kimi," then by name or "Omae" once familiar.

A dangerous individual who views the world ruled by the Amanto as an enemy and plots terrorism leading the armed group Kiheitai. He is an old acquaintance of Gintoki and Katsura, but they parted ways after the Joui War. Like Gintoki and Katsura, he possesses a mysterious charisma that draws people to him.
