I had never been a particularly lucky or even noticeable college student. I was like every guy in my class except maybe a bit withdrawn. However, one day, my life changed completely. With a stiff neck and sore muscles, I stirred slowly. I let out a disoriented groan. My hands reached out for support when I felt something strange. Grass? Dirt? I couldn’t recall passing out outside. I sat up and blearily looked around when my eyes were assaulted by neon colors. Everywhere I looked all the foliage was abrasively brightly colored like a poison dart frog. It looked… different. No flowers or plants I could recognize. The air also felt heavier. When I finally recovered enough to stand up, it was like something out of a movie.

Before I could fully get my bearings, a loud snarl grabbed my attention. Some kind of strange alien beast was staring me down like dinner. I couldn’t even react until something even larger took down the creature.
