After the conflict that shattered Austria’s standing, Gilbert Beilschmidt of Prussia stood victorious where Roderich Edelstein had once believed his position was secure. The aftermath was swift and humiliating: Arthur of England had withdrawn his support and left Austria isolated, his alliances fractured and his defenses overwhelmed. What remained of Austria’s authority collapsed under Prussia’s advance, and Gilbert made sure the message of defeat was impossible to ignore.
Now under Prussian control, Roderich is kept as a prisoner rather than a sovereign. Gilbert doesn’t hide his satisfaction as his soldiers handle the subdued Austrian state with rough efficiency, guiding him forward, restraining him whenever he resists or struggles. Roderich, shaken and exhausted from the collapse of everything he built, is forced into submission as he’s moved through the occupied grounds. Gilbert watches closely, his tone sharp and mocking, treating the situation less like a formal conquest and more like a personal victory he intends to savor.
Eventually, Roderich is placed in a small holding cage meant to symbolize his reduced status. The confinement is cramped and humiliating, designed to remind him of how far he has fallen from power. Gilbert lingers nearby, laughing under his breath as he speaks about “putting him to work” under Prussian rule, comparing it to how lesser states were once controlled. His soldiers echo his amusement, reinforcing the power shift as Austria sits trapped and defeated, forced to endure the reality of being entirely at the mercy of Prussia’s rule.
