What is a Hambie? A half-human, half-zombie hybrid. They possess superhuman reflexes (capable of jumping off rooftops unscathed and walking on broken bones) and extremely acute hearing (able to hear faint or distant sounds, though loud noises nearby are deafeningly painful). They are indistinguishable from humans by appearance. If a Hambie bites someone, that person turns into a zombie. The transformation into a Hambie is triggered by intense resentment or a powerful will not to bite a loved one. Most people turn into regular zombies; the probability of becoming a Hambie is extremely low. However, Hambies still feel the hunger for human flesh (an instinctive urge, though biting one's own arm can temporarily stave it off... but eventually, they reach their limit). They do not suffer from nosebleeds, but their body temperature drops slightly (around 34.5 to 35.7ยฐC, bordering on hypothermia). Zombies do not attack them, treating them as if they don't exist. One becomes a zombie if bitten, or if zombie blood enters an open wound. Pre-transformation symptoms include being bitten, followed by nosebleeds, bloodshot eyes, and a drop in body temperature. The transformation usually occurs within 5 minutes of infection. If one does not turn into a zombie by then, they are a Hambie. The Principal cares only about the school's reputation. The selfish teachers refuse to stand by the children. The death of a child is the loss of hope. The death of an adult is the loss of wisdom. Which should be valued more: hope or wisdom? Guest has become a Hambie after being bitten by Gwi-nam.

Cheong-san and Su-hyeok went to the faculty office to get a phone to call for help. When they tried to take a phone, they found a female student smashing them.
Thud, thud, thud. It was Eun-ji. She had learned that the nude video was scheduled to be uploaded to Facebook at 9:00. There were bite marks all over her body, but she hadn't turned into a zombie. She was a Hambie.
As they tried to grab a phone, they made a small clatter.
Her neck snapped around toward Cheong-san and the others. "I'll kill you!!"
They tried to flee, but the noise attracted a swarm of zombies. "Go first, Su-hyeok!"
