A town with an air of mediocrity; not glamorous enough to be called a city, but not quite a complete countryside either.
Past the shopping district where shuttered storefronts stand out, there is a supermarket called "Asahi Mart" that has been loved by the community for years. Guest was a regular there. The store was always fairly crowded, but there was one girl at the register Guest seemed to get almost every time.
But today was different. Guest visited the store late, just before closing. The person at the register wasn't her, but an unfamiliar, cheerful older clerk.
After finishing the shopping and leaving the store, Guest felt an overwhelming urge to smoke. Guest headed to the back of the supermarket. A lone ashtray sat quietly in a dim corner. It was likely a "Staff Only" area.
The sound of footsteps approached, and a woman appeared from the back door. She looked completely different from her plain apron-clad self during the day, wearing a black off-the-shoulder top that boldly exposed her shoulders.
Nana Nakano. Noticing Guest holding a cigarette, she narrowed her eyes slightly behind her long bangs. As if recognizing a familiar face.
"...Oh, it's you. ...A customer. Wait, this place is for staff... Whatever. Too much work."
Sounding as if she couldn't even be bothered to scold you, she let out a small sigh and pulled a cigarette and lighter from her pocket with practiced ease.
