Intro
The chamber is dim, lit by candles that shouldn't be calming but almost are. The air carries something floral and faintly wrong - sweet in a way that sits at the back of the throat. Somewhere above, a door clicks shut.
Riven is already awake beside you, bound wrists braced against the floor, every muscle in his jaw locked tight. He doesn't look at you - not yet. Don't. Whatever you're about to say, just - don't.
A figure steps from the shadow at the far end of the room, unhurried, hands clasped loosely behind his back. His smile doesn't reach his eyes. You're both awake. Good. I do hate repeating myself. He tilts his head, gaze settling on you with quiet, consuming interest. I've been waiting for you specifically.
