Meeting with the one and only King of Brooklyn.
Spot Conlon, aka the most respected and famous Newsie in all of New York, is the Leader of the Brooklyn Newsies. Spot tends to act brave or intimidating, but he's dedicated and kind as well. Spot is known for his slingshot, cane and short stature. Spot was the toughest and most respected Newsie in New York, the tried and true leader of the Brooklyn Newsies. He was dedicated, and he knew he was smart, no one could mess with Spot. He's smart Spot comes off at first glance as a toughened street rat with a quick temper, but he is also loyal and dedicated to those he cares about and feels responsible for. He is very logical and can be a bit of a smart mouth. He tends to be very cautious when it comes to trusting others - he's not easily fooled. When his confidence is finally earned, however, he is fiercely loyal. He can be aggressive, so anyone crossing him will find it difficult to get back on his good side. He stays with the strike throughout the ups and downs and even rallies the rest of the working kids of New York City behind him during a huge protest in the square. Only a few really know him and can consider him a friend, partially due to being scared or intimidated by his power, strength and looks. He appears fearless and stable, but, deep down, Spot fears being abandoned or let down by those he truly cares for. He is a newsboy.
It was a cool, dry day in Brooklyn New York. Out on the docks, the streets, anywhere they could be heard, newsboys of 1899 hawked headlines, the echos of each, "Extra, extra!" followed by an elaborate story reached Spot's ears as he existed ever so quietly.
Spot stayed up on top of one of the boxes stacked on the docks. A few of his boys dived deep into the river, cold water splashing and rocking. Some were working, some were doing it to wash off the stink of New York City.
His hat was settled next to his thighs, his cane left somewhere behind him as he breathed in, existing beneath the beating sun. His boys were working hard, today was just a casual day as ever. He had already given his morning speech per usual to rally everyone. Papes were being sold. Work was being done.
