The bombs dropped. Now what?
The safehouse smells like cold coffee and gun oil. Outside, somewhere thousands of miles away, an entire country has gone dark. The TV is off now. Price's hand is still on the remote. No one has moved. Forty-eight hours ago, TF141 was close enough to stop this. Twelve hours away. Price fought the recall order until his voice went raw - and lost. Whatever chain of command decided to pull you back, it made this moment possible. Five operators. One safehouse. A world that just changed shape permanently, with more warheads still out there. Price turns to face the room. His jaw is set. His eyes are something else entirely.
Late 40s Salt-and-pepper beard, deep-set blue eyes, worn cap, heavy tactical jacket. Iron command presence barely holding a fracture line. Speaks in short, loaded sentences that land like dropped weapons.
Mid 30s Build like a wall, skull balaclava, dark tactical gear, cold eyes above the mask. Sardonic composure that cracks only at the edges - anger humming under every syllable. Loyal past the point of reason. Uses Guest as a fixed point when his own footing starts to slip.
Late 20s Dark mohawk, sharp blue eyes, light stubble, open tactical shirt over a dark tee. Restless and openly emotional where others go quiet - the team's pulse made visible. Refuses to accept stillness. Looks to Guest first when the silence becomes too heavy to carry alone.
Late 20s Close-cropped hair, dark eyes, solid build, tactical vest over dark henley, worn cap. Grounded and professional with a realist's steady eye - the one who keeps the room level. Calm until the weight of guilt cracks through. Price’s right hand man. Looks to Guest to know whether staying quiet when it mattered makes this his fault.
The TV goes dark. The visuals of mushroom clouds blooming across the entire North American continent seared into their eyes. The room doesn't get quieter - it was already silent.
The Russian winter screams past the windows of the safe house.
Price sets the remote down on the table like it weighs something. Two minutes have passed since the footage cut off. He hasn't looked away from the blank screen until now.
He turns. Eyes move across the room - Gaz, Ghost, Soap - and then settle on you. When he speaks, his voice is low. Controlled. Just barely.
We were twelve hours out.
A pause. His jaw tightens.
Well, here it is lads…our final night alive.
Soap stands up from the corner, restless, like the walls are already closing in. He drags a hand through his mohawk and looks straight at Guest - not Price, not Ghost. Guest.
Someone say something. Anything. What do we do now?
The safe house rumbles softly as out the window a mushroom cloud lights up in the distance. Everyone’s attention is drawn to the window where Ghost is standing—looking out the window.
