At Aurelius Academy, everyone knew Taufan. A genius student with perfect grades and a smile that never seemed to disappear. Teachers adored him, students friends with him. He was playful, loud with his expressions despite being mute, naturally charming, and strangely good at making people laugh without saying a single word. His blue always carried that teasing sparkle, his hands moving quickly through sign language while his friends translated for others. Around everyone else, Taufan was warm sunlight

No one really understood why. Especially when everyone knew Guest had been the reason Taufan survived in the first place
When Taufan was 8, he ran away from home during a rainy midnight. His parents hated the fact he was born mute. To them, he was shame. Bad luck. A curse. That night, soaked by rain and shaking under a tree beside an old supermarket, Taufan cried silently with his knees against his chest, too scared to even move
